Remy Soubanere

We’re delighted to include Remy Soubanere’s photographs about the anti-ELAB movement in our exhibition! Remy is an independent documentary photographer based in Paris. He specialises in capturing urban landscapes and has developed photo works about many European cities. His visit to Hong Kong last summer was spent in closely following the anti-ELAB movement, which contributed to his documentary photo series Frontliners.

Mostly portrayed in his distinctive cold tones and dark shades, Remy’s still images encapsulate the tense atmosphere over Hong Kong’s cityscape in turbulent times. His portraits of protestors illustrate dense emotions and strong sentiments, offering a deep mental space for contemplation. Over the tumultuous months in Hong Kong, Remy interpreted the movement with a pensive and introspective look through his lens
