"Anime Impact" is Lau’s another illustration created for a subsidiary event of the Takashi Murakami’s exhibition, “MURAKAMI vs MURAKAMI”, in Tai Kwun.
In the event, Takashi Murakami personally selected and screened several Japanese animations that had the deepest impacts on him, so Lau combined the two concepts of screening and Japanese animation and created a series of works.
Lau noticed that the animations selected by Murakami suggested ideas of “World War II,” such as nuclear war and nuclear explosion. He was struck upon and decided to combine his old tube TV motif with the nuclear explosion, showing a type of his visual experiments.
