“Area per capita 9'x 5' ”is an illustration for an exhibition that envisions the future of Hong Kong.

It shares Lau’s vision of the future living area per capita in Hong Kong. As there are already about 60 feet of sub-divided houses, he considers that there will even be 9'x 5' houses in the near future in Hong Kong.

Through exaggeration, Lau depicted each housing unit as a container in a laboratory, and residents are forcibly squeezedinto these tiny and confined spaces, showing a sense of extreme oppression.
